Spread from the altitude of 2845 metres to 8848 metres, Sagarmatha National Park lies in Northern part of Solukhumbu district. Established on July 19, 1976, it contains ever tempting dramatic mountains, deep valleys and glaciers, all dominated by Mt Everest, the highest peak in the world. Declared as the World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1979, the park offers you rare sights of red pandas, snow leopards, musk deer, wolves Himalayan black bears, more than 118 species of birds; coupled with the world’s highest ecologically characteristic other flora and fauna, and intricately blended with the rich Sherpa culture.
As it is located in geographically difficult land, you cannot normally get to the park by fine roadways. So the most common way of getting there is to take a flight from Kathmandu or any other domestic airport at your ease to Lukla, and go trekking onwards for almost two days. October , November, March, April and May are the best months for visiting the park.
