Kala Patthar

Situated  at the foot of Pumori, 7161 meters, above Gorakshep, in Solukhumbu, Province 1, Nepal, Kala patthar is a hill from where you can capture the views of Everest base camp and peripheral snow-packed peaks. The Nepali terms ‘kala’ and ‘patthar’ mean ‘black’ and ‘stone’ or ‘rock’ respectively. Kala  patthar is made up of black and dark colored rock, in sharp contrast to the white colour of the snowy mountains whose views it enables you to enjoy. Hence the name Kala Patthar is vital. You will see Buddhist monasteries and local Sherpa villages in your trip. The Sherpas have guest houses, where offer you nice accommodation.

Kala Patthar is becoming more popular among trekkers because from the top of it you can have beautiful view of the peaks of the Everest, Lhotse and Nuptse which it is not possible to see from the Everest base camp. It is a peak at the altitude of 5570 meters. It is the place from where  you can have spectacular views of the sunrise and the sunset in the clear weather time.
