Tengboche Monastery

Tengboche Monastery, which stands out distinct as a prime Buddhist centre in khumbu region, lies in Solukhumbu, Province 1 Nepal. The natural decoration painted by the backdrop of Mountain Amadablam ,the second highest in Nepal and the third highest in the world, makes the monastery unique and unrivalled. Its fame as a residence of Rinpoche, the Buddhist Guru, who bestows blessings upon travelers along the path, is widespread, especially among Buddhists. Mani Rimdu festival which falls in the month of October is grandly and wildly celebrated by Buddhists at Tengboche Monastery. The festival events include varieties of songs, ritual dances, enchantments of mythical figures and deities, etc. You can participate in the festivities regardless of which creed you belong to. Great sense of equality and the sheer absence of untouchability among all human beings are , in fact, great preaching of Gautam Buddha. If you wish to visit the monastery to observe the festival, you can book the trek to coincide it.

The route to the famous Everest zone is the route to Tengboche Monastery too. After walking past Namche Bazaar, you can have a pleasant night stay at Tengboche, across the cool Imja Khola. Tengboche Monastery perches  on a tall ridge, just as a bird does on a top tree branch, across the canyon from a place known as Khunde.

On the periphery of the Monastery are the rich vegetations of pines, azaleas and rhododendrons. Besides, the bewitching views of snow-peaked Everest, Ama Dablam and Lhotse will fill your heart with awe and wonder for God for such  crafty creations.

There are hotels and lodges that offer you good food and fine accommodation. There are camping sites, where you can build your own tents and take rest. Up onward from Tengbpche lie Pheriche, Kalapatthar and Gorakshep, leading to The Everest Base Camp.
