The richness of Nepal’s culture and traditions has always drawn western tourists and visitors from other parts of the world to the country. Those who participate in the Bishwakarma Pooja treat it as if it were the most important day of the year. The government has not declared it a public holiday, but for those who are celebrating this day, it is more than just a government holiday.
Bishwakarma Pooja is a pooja dedicated to Lord Bishwakarma, the Lord of Art, Architecture, and Engineering. In a sentence, it’s a homage to all people who developed the technology. It is a tribute to all those who have worked in the field of physics for the welfare of humanity. Lord Bishwakarma has four hands, wears a crown, and carries a water-pot, a book, a noose, and craftsman’s tools in his right hand. Vishwakarma is considered as the Gods’ chief artisan and architect. Biswakarma is a reincarnation of Lord Brahma, the universe’ creator. All of the gods’ palaces are officially built by Viswakarma. Vishwakarma is the creator of all the gods’ and goddesses’ flying chariots, according to Hindu mythology. He also developed and built the weaponry for them.
Bishwakarma is worshipped by Hindus as the lord of architecture and engineering. “A perfect time for workers and artisans to enhance production and obtain heavenly inspiration for developing unique products,” according to Biwakarma puja.He is characterized as “the ruler of the arts, executor of a thousand trades, the carpenter of the gods, the most famous of artists, the fashioner of all decorations, and a mighty and immortal god” in the Mahabharata, the world’s largest epic.
The celebration is typically held on the factory premises, shop floor, office, or workshop. All of the machines are worshipped in addition to Biswakarma. Along with machines, people adore their vehicles. Machinery and vehicles are covered with red and white fabric, as well as holy treads. After the pooja, a march with Biswakarma’s picture is held in several parts of Nepal. The celebration is usually held on the factory floor, shop floor, or office. People placed sculptures and idols of Lord Biswakarma on the corners of crossroads and statues and idols of him in the street corners. Puja is also linked to the practice of flying kites. In some ways, this event also heralds the commencement of the holiday season, which will run till Deepawali.
Vishwakarma’s many architectural marvels are well-documented in Hindu mythology. Hindu mythology divides whole era of this earth in four yugs (span of time), Stayayug, Tretayug, Dwaparyug and Kali yuga. For the gods, he had constructed numerous towns and palaces. He constructed the SwargaLok (heaven), the home of the gods and demigods, where Lord Indra reigns, during the Satyayuga. In the Tretayuga, Bishwakarma constructed Ravan’s Lanka, the city of Dwarka in the Dwaparyuga, and Hastinapur and Indraprastha in the Kali yuga.
People shut down all the works of the factory and warehouse. To celebrate the day of bishwakarma, they also consume alcoholic drinks. Due to the puja, there will be a shortage of public transportation on the streets since the owners will not drive their taxi, bus, or truck after the puja. People in Nepal, on the other hand, are aware of this and are prepared for the traffic scenario on Biswakarma Puja day.If you are traveling in Nepal in the middle of September, be sure to ask your travel agent to include a bishwakarma puja observance in your itinerary. One thing we guarantee is that if you attend any puja or celebration, you will be served complimentary local cuisine. On their festival day, Nepalese prefer to indulge themselves to a variety of meals and beverages. That is the reason why our country Nepal is so diverse and good with culture and traditions.
